How many of you rat keepers let your rats have free range?
I am wondering if I should let my rat have a little bit of it in my room.
I don’t actually think I would, but I just need the pros and cons. Thanks!!

I wouldn’t. I had three rats once. You should have a cage and play with them often, and them put them back. When they are loose in your room, keep an eye on them. With free range you can’t/it’s hard to do that. There is many many dangers in your room, such as electrical cords to chew on and things falling. Also, rats will pee and poop in your room and you will have to clean it up (that’s not really the bad part). But, it gets bad when you didn’t know they had pooped and it starts smelling, or when you didn’t know they peed and it gets dried and sticky. Ew. My advice is to tkae your rats out of the cage, but watch out for them.
p.s. also, if you have any other animals, such as cats, that is an extreme hazard.I also recommend buy a very small harness and leash that you can put on your rat (buy at PetSmart, anywhere) so you can walk them outside. They love rooting around through leaves and grass.
