Tattoos for females (writing)?
When I turn eighteen, I wish for three tattoos. One I have had in my head for a very, very x10 long time. The other two are something I have thought of in the last year or so. However, one is a slogan, I want it down my arm; it’s three words, and I want it small on the underneath of my arm. I spoke about this with my mum, but she says even at 18, she won’t be happy because women do not get words. It’s what I want, and I don’t think it looks bad for a female to have words on her arm.
Does anybody agree with me? And who agrees with my mum.
Oh and before I get the ‘listen to mum’ she has 5, one of which she didn’t like so got that covered and am I 17, and have wanted this very much for a while, and thought of multiple designs myself, not copycat.
Think about what everyone here has said – and that the adults have all warned you. It’s one thing to wear a certain style of clothing or your hair a funky way – but to get a tattoo is in an entirely different league.
When you need to go for an interview, have an important life event like a wedding (yours or anyone elses’), or need to look respectable in your work, they will count against you. Forever.
If you want something that is going to be that permanent and that makes a statement, put it somewhere that is private. That way, you can feel as though you have expressed yourself, but it will not be an issue where it otherwise might be. There are plenty of people in the world you will not actually want to expres your whole self to.
While tattoos seem to be more accepted in more places these days, the fact is, you are young, and to jeopardize your progress for something like that will make a difference for the rest of your life. I guarantee, they will not be in style forever, and there will be a lot of money made by people who can laser them off. Sounds painful- and expensive.
Given that there are restaurants and retail stores that will not even hire you as wait staff if you have a visible tattoo, you really need to think about that before you do something so foolish. I’m hoping you’re aiming higher than that.
And, you may find that you change your mind about the saying you once thought was so deep.
Forever is a lot longer than you think, dear.
