Is it okay that my three year old son has asked Santa for a radial arm saw for Christmas?
I admit that I’m a bit worried about this – seeing as he will have to stand on a stepladder in order to operate it properly. When I suggested he ask for something else because ” Santa might not have one short enough for him” he replied ” Dad….!! Elves..!! Duhhh!??”. He then proceeded to inform me that his letter to Santa was an A/B conversation and I should C my way out of it and he stomped out to his woodshop and slammed the door.How can I find a happy medium between being a concerned responsible father and just giving in to his requests. I don’t want to alienate him…. after all, he does let me hang out in the shop with him unless he’s working on something important. Any advice from you guys is appreciated.
Well, being the attentive mother of a 2 year old that I am, I can see that your son is simply trying to pay homage to the Man of the season.
Jesus was a carpenter (as was Harrison Ford), and it’s quite obvious that his passion for woodworking is his way of embracing the Lord. You should get him the saw and applaud his choice of taking on a wholesome hobby… instead of asking for a phone headset and webspace to engineer a pyramid scheme, like my daughter.
