In warhammer, I have a blood dragon on winged nightmare and a winged vampire lord. Can i use one as a count?
I know proxies are now illegal in gw tournaments, but can i use one as a count instead? there is no equivelant winged nightmare mounted count. Also, what are thralls? there are no models for them
Well, first off, there are no more Vampire Counts or Vampire Thralls; just Vampire Lords (Lord level) and Vampire (Hero level)
Abysmal Terrors in the new book are the same thing the old winged nightmares, they were renamed to avoid confusion with the Hellsteed (which is a nightmare with wings). So you are fine using your model as a Vampire Lord mounted on a Abysmal Terror. To be completely legit, you’d have to equip him with heavy armor and a lance to conform to WYSIWYG.
The winged vampire can either be used as a lord or hero level vampire. Again to be legit, you may have to give him the Flying Horror vampiric power.
I should also point out that while proxies are not allowed, CONVERSIONS typically are, and are usually rewarded in your painting score. A conversion a model has been modded and/or painted to fit with the rest of the army. Say you want a zombie dragon, but the old Zacharias model doesn’t float your boat. You would be allowed use one of the new HE dragon models, provided that you had painted it to look decaying, and maybe Dremmeled some holes and raggediness in the wings and replaced the rider with a vampire model. That said, I do believe that GW have requirements that all models have to be GW minis, or at least be mostly gw minis.
