Freshman going into high school color guard: any tips for a complete beginner?
My high school color guard is pretty desperate =P so they are allowing pretty much anybody to join (although you still have to “try out”). What are some tips you have? What kind of things should I buy (like flags)? Thanks so much =D
Flags will be provided. (but it never hurts to practice with a broomstick at home.) There are a ton of color guard videos on You tube for reference. The best thing you can do prior to auditioning (besides asking somebody already in guard what you should practice) is getting in shape. Stretch everyday and start running. It takes a lot of flexibility and stamina to be in the guard, Good luck!
