in warhammer 40k can drazhar master of blades be an HQ choice?
No. Drazhar is what’s now described – over a decade since the Dark Eldar codex was first written – as a “unit upgrade character”. He doesn’t fill a force organization slot. Rather, he replaces an incubus in the Lord’s retinue.
According to the rules as written, it isn’t completely clear whether one has to purchase the Incubus that Drazhar replaces first or whether the points cost for Drazhar replaces the points cost of the Incubus. A literal reading of the rules would imply the former – you spend 25 points of an Incubus and then upgrade it (for 90 points) to Drazhar.
However, most players go – sensibly in my opinion – with the latter approach and simply count Drazhar as an additional member of the squad, in the same way as Sgt Telion in a Space Marine Scouts squad.
