Choosing my warhammer 40k army?
I am starting to play the warhammer 40k table top game and i am having a hard time choosing an army. I really want an army with high defensive power, i was considering the Tau but their weakness to melee seemed too obvious and and posed some issues for me.
If you want an army that can soak up a lot of punishment and give quite a bit back then space marines are for you.
Tau are lethal with ranged firepower, but only kroot are decent in close combat.
Eldar (which I play) are quite fragile but they have some nasty firepower, but unlike the tau, they have some specialised close combat troops, such as Howling Banshees and Harelquins.
Necrons, although they haven’t many choices in their army list as comapred to some armies, can take incredible punishment and their ‘We’ll be back’ rule means some models that have been killed can come back.
If you want high defensive power then I would personally go for Necrons, as their weapons also have a special rule that lets their weapons have a chance of damaging tanks as well.
However many other people choose armies for background, models, style of fighting etc. Read up on all the other armies or pop into Games workshop, the people in there will only be too happy to help you decide.
