Chaos Defiler Conversion?

I play a game called Warhammer 40k. i have my eyes on a defiler, but it is chaos and i play space marines… is it possible to convert it into my army some how? I have a custom chapter called Artificial Chaos by the way and though this would be neat to have. And please no trolling this.

You certainly COULD convert it. It really depends on a few things. First is what codex you play out of. Do you play out of the vanilla marines codex or the chaos codex?

If you play out of the chaos codex, just mess around with the iconography on the thing so it fits your theme. No other conversion required.

If you play out of the vanilla marines codex, things get a bit tougher. First, regular marines cant field defilers, so youd have to play it as a “Count as” unit. In this case, the unit in the vanilla codex the defiler best represents is probably an ironclad drednaught. Both can buy similar weaponry, both have 2 DCCW, both are big clanky beasties. Only difference is that Ironclads have better armor, and SM dreds have better BS/WS in general. If you are looking to play it as an Ironclad, just make sure all of his weapons are clearly modeled and, again, mess around with the iconography and color scheme so it fits your theme. Also, prepare to get blasted by heavy fire, as the defilers are quite a bit larger then standard dreds
