In answer to your question, it’s called the “dark zone”.
The ocean is put into what we call “zones”. It is grouped by the water temperature and by how far the sun can go down in the water. The zones include the following: sunlit zone (0-660 ft.), twilight zone (660-3,300 ft.), dark zone (3,300-13,200 ft.), abyss (13,200-19,800 ft.), and the trench (19,800 and over).
Take for example the Marianas Trench in the Pacific Ocean which is the deepest point in each ocean at 11,033 meters (36,201 feet) below sea level. If Mount Everest were placed inside of this trench, it would disappear.
The trench was formed when the Pacific plate collided with the Philippine plate, which also resulted in the formation of the nearby island Guam.
