I meld and blend impalpable,
My darkness and your radiance merged,
Oceans converged
With space and petals, time and Bibles
A heaven without its wings
A glory in pain, spellboundly it sings.

And become nothingness.
It keeps on ‘til torso becomes Allness.
Merged in that center of my brows
A white hole that absorbs my head

Benny, I commend you on this use of the madrigal form, one wherein you have relaxed the precise rhymes of the stanzas to make a better poem. I am a little confused by your title, however. My understanding of साधना (sādhanā for those who have let their Sanskrit lapse) is one of a sustained, disciplined, goal-directed path of spiritual practice leading to enlightenment, or perhaps the realization of non-duality, as here in your own niṣkām sādhanā. Though I did not find specific instances of the eight limbs of Raja Yoga in your madrigal (and hence my Westerner’s confusion about the poem’s title), I do see your debt to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali in its construction. Your madrigal too has four ‘books’ as in Patanjali, and your first strophe describes blissful absorption into the One, as in the Samadhi Pada. I expected to find the Sādhanā Pada in your second strophe, with its pragmatic injunctions of selfless action, but instead the tone and substance of the first stanza continues. However, you did it very well! The supranormal powers of the Vibhuti Pada are suggested by your third strophe, and the conclusion of your fourth strophe is the project of the Kaivalya Pada realized fully. You are really describing samādhi, with your poem moving from Savikalpa, briefly touching Asamprajñata, and then ending fully in Nirvikalpa (sanjeevan). In relating the turns of consciousness and the physiological correlates of the path to transcendent liberation, your poem shines with a light all its own, and there is no doubt that you are a bodhisattva my friend. A most interesting poem, and please excuse me if my recollections of Eastern philosophy are in any way flawed by Time’s dark webs.
