Empire Intimidator, Bob Long Alias, or Proto Matrix Rail?
Looking at a few markers for sale and need some opinions.
All markers are pretty stock other than some cosmetic upgrades (grips, etc). I play mostly airball and occasionally play woodsball. Mostly I find myself mid to front. Currently have Angel LCD and I want to upgrade to a gun that’s going to be a little nicer to fragile paint and can shoot a little faster (looking for over 12 balls per second).
Thoughts?
The first question to ask yourself is whether you prefer a spool valve or poppet valve marker. The PMR, like all Dye/Proto guns, is a spoolie. That gives it a smoother/quieter shot, and very little kick. The down side to spoolies is that they tend to be maintenance intensive (lots of o-rings) and not so air efficient. The Empire and the Alias are both Bob Long Intimidators, which are poppet valve guns. The Alias is a third generation timmy, the Empire is generation 2.5. Poppet valve guns are generally louder and have more kick, but they are very gas efficient and require less maintenance. All of the guns you’ve listed will easily shoot over 12 bps, if you’ve got fast fingers or use some sort of enhanced board mode (ramping, burst, etc.).
