Is it okay to use a power drill on a Warhammer 40k Tau Piranha?
The top of the base got stuck inside the hole insert on the bottom of my Tau Piranha. I can’t get the little piece out to put it back on a base. I was wondering if it’s okay to drill a new hole into my Tau Piranha or if Games Workshop plastic is too brittle and will crack and destroy my Piranha.
If it isn’t suggested I use a drill, then how should I go about making it so I can put the base back on? Trying to glue it on didn’t work out so well for me.
If your power drill has an RPM that start at 0, then it should be fine. I’ve used a drill bit in an HSS socket on my electric screwdriver often on GW plastic minis: just keep the rotations as low as possible.
That said, a decent miniature hand drill (also known as a pin vise) is a vital part of the hobbyist’s toolkit.
Don’t use rotary tools with an RPM that starts substantially above 0. I have a Dremel that starts at 3000RPM and I once wondered whether I could use it to drill.
Short answer: I couldn’t. Result: scored miniature, snapped drill bit, lucky to still have use of both eyes.
