whats the point of using a chainsword in warhammer 40,000?
Ok so im just now starting out playing the warhammer 40k tabletop game, and i just read in the rule book that chainswords give no bonuses in melee combat. so what is the point of even using them? wouldnt it be a better idea just to make the marines use all bolters if the chainswords dont give any bonuses?
If in close combat you have a bolt pistol and a chainsword you get an extra attack.
Take a marine sargent for example, they have 2 attacks normally so if the had a pistol (that counts as a close combat weapon in close combat) and a chain sword (that also counts as a close combat weapon) you get a third attack for having a extra close combat weapon.
