is it really so wrong to paint a warhammer ork pink?

i think it’s ok so long as the entire army is painted well.

It’s so wrong it’s right.

If the army is otherwise painted well, then there’s nothing wrong with pink Orks. I’ve seen grey Orks and blue Orks, too. I seem to recall seeing red Orks at one point.

If someone wants a “fluff” justification, you can explain that the Ork waaagh was incubated on a world bathed in powerful irradiated light from the nearest star. It was enough to kill off the hardy algae that form a symbiotic relationship with the Ork host, giving its skin the distinctive green hue. The Orks would normally have failed to hatch as a result. But the world itself was home to an adapted form of algae that filled the niche left by the dead algae. This native algae had a distinctive pink hue and doesn’t feed itself by photosynthesis – rather, it is carnivorous. As a result, your orks must feed on fresh meat daily or be consumed by their own aggressive systems.

This should make it clear that your pink Orks aren’t girly at all. In fact, they’re even more savage than normal Orks and they want to EAT YOUR FACE!!
