Warhammer 40k conversions?
ok so im wanting to make my imperial guard army the tanith first and only so i was wondering how to convert ordinary guardsmen to look the part

That’s a tricky one, because the Tanith are light infantry. So Cadians are generally too heavily armoured with their helmets and shoulder pads, whilst ordinary Catachans are too muscley (stupidly so, it must be said).

This is a simple, if expensive, way of achieving the effect you want, although the removal of the original expansion set (that included rather more characters with just plain lasguns) rather stymies the hope of having an entire army of these guys – unless you track them down on eBay (where they might well command disproportionate prices).
The nex best option would be to start looking at kit-bashes of the new Catachan command sprue:

These miniatures are far better made than the old plastic Catachans with better proportions. Combine them with Cadian torsos to distinguish them from Catachans. But then you’ve got to find the camo cloaks for them. Greenstuff is an option (and can be bought cheaply in large quantities on eBay), but you could also look at a kitbash with the plastic Space Marine Scout Snipers (these are a bit over-armoured, but nothing that some judicious filing and cutting couldn’t sort out). You could also look at the Wood Elf Glade Guard for good capes, or even the Skaven Night Runners boxed set.

They’re often out of stock of the part you’re looking for, but a search on “cape” or “cloak” will at least show you lots of options.
