In my friends Chaos Codex a ‘bolter’ is mentioned but it does not say what a ‘bolter’ is. What is it?
My friends and I are beginning our long journey playing Warhammer 40k and a few questions (quarrels) have come up. My friend insists that the free ‘bolter’ for his Chaos Biker is a heavy bolter but I believe it to be a boltgun. The Chaos Codex doesn’t have a ‘bolter’ in the summary so he chooses the best stateline. We’ve agreed that once again GW has left us in the dark but here is the twist. I have a Daemonhunters Codex that has a bolter in the summary and has the same stat line as the updated (as I would call it) name as a boltgun.
Because different people write the codexes, there are sometimes problems with terms being used.
In this case it’s fairly easy to work out since ‘bolter’ and ‘boltgun’ are the same thing. I have never seen an example of heavy bolters being referred to as anything.
Also, from experience I can say that anything included in standard profiles (i.e. free) will always be the basic equipment and in most cases, the upgrades will have a price attached to them in the profile. If its not in the profile, you can’t have the item.
