Why are warhammer figures so expensive?
i was thinkin about getting into it but it’s like $8-$55 for a little plastic toy that isnt even panted, and apparently I need dozens of those to build an army?
Also, do they sell ones that are already paintd? I just want to play, I don’t want to paint the damn things.

Let’s answer backwards. No, Games Workshop does not sell them painted. They consider Warhammer to be part hobby (painting and collecting) and part gaming. You can certainly purchase painted ones on Ebay and elsewhere, but I suspect that will run you right into your first issue – price. The price of miniatures is nothing more than supply and demand. There is significant cost in the product, not due to the size or material cost, but in the dies used to make them. And there really aren’t that many people who buy these (not like, say plastic green army men), so they command a higher price to those folks willing to spend.
I suggest you find yourself a friend or gaming group in your area where you can borrow some miniatures and play the game – getting what you wanted, i.e. the fun of playing the game. Then if you decide you really like it, start small and get just a few troops at a time. There are certainly lots of options for playing perfectly fun games withough having an epic battle with hundreds of figures. There is no rule which says the figures have to be painted – they just look better. Although in sponsored tournaments, painting is generally a requirement.
