Painting Warhammer 40k?
when painting warhammer is it better to paint the models on the sprue or when they are stuck together? Is it better with different armies or to do some parts on the sprue?

If you want to paint your army to a high degree of detail undercoat them with either white or black citadel paint and start painting them when there on the sprue. You will only have to do touch ups then when you clip them off.
But if you decide to put them together and then paint them I recommend you put the body together and paint at least the chest and anything else the weapon they are holding will get in the way of. Normally if your painting guard you can put the legs, chest and head on then paint that. Then attach arms and gun and paint that. And that also goes for marines, orks, eldar, some nids, necrons, and tau.
But for all things i recommend you base coate them while they are on the sprue.
