In the Vietnam War, what, if any part of the Marines would drop you into the jungle with only a knife?
Recently i was talking to a Vietnam war vet who was in the marines and he said as part of his training he was dropped into the jungle 50 miles away with only a survival knife. Was this training regular for all Marines or was it only for Marine Special forces? If so, what was the name and function of these special forces? Are they still around today?
Is it possible this was a form of SERE training?
He was not dropped in Vietnam but in another country. Is it possible it was the Phillipines. He did serve and rarely talks about his service.
