Road Rash/Impact Wound?
I fell on my bike about 2 days ago at around 15 mph on a turn. The only armor I was not wearing was knee pads and where do I hit first?, my left knee followed by a cushion with my left shoulder pad. Anyway I got a 1″ width x 3″ down ”road rash” on my left knee..however its not really a road rash i think and more of an impact wound since my clothes did not tear, not even a little bit. My wound did not touch the asphalt floor. I got up picked up the bike and went home. Placed antibacterial infection ointment on the wound and applied a bandage over it. I repeated this at night and the following day. Today It seems as a scab is forming which is good I know but is there anything I should take into consideration? Am I overthinking anything and just out of curiosity is this still as they say called road rash.
Just keep it covered for several more days and keep putting the ointment on it to keep infection out, and clean the area with soap and water once or twice a day and some rubbing alcohol wont hurt, it may sting but it goes away pretty quick, or rub some peroxide on it (less pain). Other than that you will be alright. If it starts to look infected all red hot and puffy and it don’t go away after a day or two then go to the doctor, but I would say you will be good to go with basic wound care.
