warhammer painting?
Is there anybody that would be interested in a painting service for warhammer models, what with all the new army models like demonic legion, chaos, dark elves soon to be out and vampire counts becoming unstopable. it would be based in california and a website would go up upon interest of the public, you know if there was a market for it.
I could be wrong, but I think the well-known Blue Table Painting is already working in California – although, to be frank, to make ends meet you have to operate internationally in any case.
The market is hard to break into and hard to make profit from because of the time-intensive nature of army-painting. And armies painted quickly tend not to be of sufficient quality to make it worth commissioning the work to start with.
You also need to decide what sort of service you want to provide: an all-inclusive “buy the models, build the models, design the army” service? A purely painting service, with the client sending you the models? Or somewhere in between.
To be profitable, you tend to need at least one Golden Demon under your belt. Even at the bottom end of the market, where I operate, you need to use contacts far and wide and establish a reputation for quality. I’ve got three Golden Demon finalist’s certificates, although I’ve never placed in the top three. I’m a long way from making a living income from my painting, although I do manage to entirely fund my hobby without dipping into family finances.
