warhammer 40k- space marine apothecary?
I play space marines in warhammer 40k,
i was thinking of buying a command squad but im not sure what the apothecary does,
any help is much appreciated
An apothecary allows the squad he’s with to ignore the first failed armour save in each turn – very handy in a tight spot! But bear in mind that it’s no help against wounds that don’t allow an armour save: ones with an AP of 3 or better, or which ignore armour saves (like power weapons).
Generally speaking, a command squad is a hefty investment of points and not worth it for armies of less that 1,850 points – you’re better off taking one or two independent HW characters (a Commander and a Chaplain is a popular combination) and attaching them to other units (a chaplain with a jump pack is deadly attached to an Assault Squad, whislt a Commander with a Tactical squad will give it vital punch for taking and holding that essential objective)..
But once you get to 1850 points, a Command Squad in a Rhino is a tremendous asset. Try to design a Command Squad with a specific role in mind: either make it a squad full of assault troops (everyone gets a bolt pistol and chainsword, plus Terminator Honours, plus a Company Champion) or make it a squad full of nasty, shooty things; don’t try to mix them or you’ll end up with a squad that’s jack of all trades, master of none.
