Which Warhammer 40k army to start with?
I am looking for a fun army to paint which uses powerful units that come in small groups (not a huge amount of troops).
Thanks for your help and please dont choose the army you use if it does not answer my question =D
To start with i think Space Marines are best because there more forgiving in terms of play you can make mistakes playing them and you wont get beat down. They have small units. 5 to 10 men max and they have great armor. 85% of the army has a save of 3 plus. The rules governing the Space Marines are simple easy to understand.
I personally play a Space Marine army and a Tau army lately i have played my Tau more because its a different style of army its all shooting no hand to hand. It has more rules its a Lil harder to learn. I had a Necron army but i sold it I hated it. It was very simple to learn the rules. But there was no diversity in the army. Chaos Marines are same as Space Marines but there are more rules involved because of the chaos gods.
Tyranids are bugs that run across the table and hope to get into hand to hand before getting shot, same goes for Orks. Both Nids and Orks have many rules that you have to learn. Eldar have lots of rules and the units are not small and elite there normally large between 5 to 15. Dark Eldar even more rules then eldar and harder to play.
