Rule questions for Warhammer 40k 10 points to best answer?
So i am currently putting together a chaos space marines army and got a little confused on some rules. First, i heard that fleet and run are different, i know that fleet means you can assault after you role a d6 for extra movement but can you shoot before doing this, and whats the exact ruling for the run rule? Second, with ordinance weapons they add a d6 to armor penetration but does it still do that if it isn’t a direct hit( when the blast moves so it’s still under blast but not in middle so half the power of weapon rounded down)? Lastly, i keep hearing something about the chaos lord’s allignment and how it affects the army and i didn’t really understand it, does that mean that if the lord is nurgle the whole army has to be?
“Running” is always done instead of shooting, so no model that runs can shoot. Normally models that Run cannot assault.
The exception is “fleet” models. These can Run in the shooting phase and still assault.
Ordnance weapons and Large Blast weapons are technically different classes of weapon. It just so happens that many Large Blast weapons are Ordnance weapons.
Ordnance weapons always roll two D6 for armour penetration and pick the highest (NB: PICK THE HIGHEST, *not* add them together).
Blast weapons (including Large Blast weapons) that have the centre of the template over a vehicle’s hull roll their full strength to penetrate armour (which is always the armour side facing the firer, except for barrage weapons, when it is always the side armour). Blast weapons that have the centre of the template off the hull, but which still catch the vehicle in their blast much halve their Strength before rolling for Armour Penetration.
I hope that’s clear.
Finally, the mark that a Chaos Lord takes has no direct (rules) impact on the rest of his army. A Chaos Lord with the mark of Nurgle could, technically, command an army of Noise Marines. But there is a question of synergy. Similarly-marked units tend to work better together, as they all suit a certain type of combat.
