Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard Ultramarines?
Been thinking a bit, and personally I love the looks of the imperial guard, and i’ve got a pretty solid space marine army en route. So I was planning to include a unit of cadian imperial guard into my army.
I am currently painting their armour blue and their cloths with graveyard earth and drybrushed with kommando khaki. Any comments and/or tips?
Strictly speaking, one may not take units from other codexes in an army for conventional games of 40k.
That said, WH40k is a very flexible game between friends and, although it’s not strictly within the rules, you might like to field them as a Planetary Defence Force (PDF) unit recruited from your chapter’s home fief world (or worlds).
For games against people who aren’t friends who know what to expect and who are happy to see this squad in a Space Marine army, keep them in the box. Use them in Apocalypse games and perhaps consider making them the starting point for a second army.
Painting-wise, paint the cloth first. Use Regal Blue on the armour and highlight the armour’s edges with Enchanted Blue for a really crisp, bright look.
