warhammer 40K space marines : what do i need in a 1500 point army?
i already have a whirlwind a dreadnough a honor garde and 3 tactical squads and ide like to make a 1500 point army with space marines
Well, first of all, you need an HQ choice of some sort to make your army strictly legal. I’m a big fan of the new Chapter Master character, although he can be a bit overkill at 1500. Vulkan He’stan is a great choice if you max out of meltas and flamers, but a basic Captain or Chaplain are both solid options when starting out.
After that, regardless of your army’s chosen emphasis, you need some transports. Whether you go for the “death from above” drop pod choice, the conventional Rhinos, the more threatening Razorback or the ultra-killy Land Raider or one of its variants is largely up to you and how you see your army playing. But the advantage of having a solid armoured box or two in which to load up the marines for that vital forward strike towards the objectives cannot be underestimated.
