Warhammer 40k question?
Ok im new to this, i have a question about space marines, i like the look of space wolves and im going to collect just to paint but mayb play 1 day, what i dont understand is all the chapters, is it just the colour you paint them or something else. Ive seen imperial fists, is that just space marines painted yellow and named different? cheers for help if any1 does 
Hi thanks for the answer, im not sure if i write this here but…. could i get a space marine tactical squad and put them in but converted to a storm lord? or will it say all this when i get a codex next week?

im still not sure how you know that a certain chapter uses seige and some use other stuff if theres no codex for some of the chapters, so can i convert 20 space marines to 20 imperial fists and 20 more space marines to storm lords (not that i want to do that
most chapters are only different in colour and their background, however there are some chapters that have their own codexes (army books), eg. space wolves. They use their own codexes, this means they have a few different rules than normal space marine chapters. Other chapters of SM that have their own codexes are: Black Templars (i play these), Blood Angels, Dark Angels.
