Warhammer 40k witch hunters playable?
I’m starting a second army for 40k now and im interested in the witch hunters, but i am a little worried about getting them when i noticed that Games workshop is lets you download the armies codex for free? why is this? are they even still usable to play against other armies? any and all info about the army and why GW is going this would be very helpful

The Witch Hunters are a playable and competitive army in their own right, especially with a strong emphasis upon the Sisters of Battle.
GW withdrew the print product from sale in Summer 2010 and released it and the Daemonhunters codex as PDF downloads. This was mainly to free up stock space for a product that is amongst their lowest-selling, but also preparatory for the release of a new codex. Both Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters are expected to be on the release schedule for 2011, although rumours currently suggest that the Inquisition elements will be down played, with the former becoming Codex: Grey Knights and the latter becoming Codex: Sisters of Battle.
Having said that they are playable and competitive, it should be under-emphasized that the Witch Hunters codex is widely considered to be among the weakest three or four codexes currently available, due to their lack of strategic flexibility. However, the faith points rules can be used cleverly to make the army extremely effective in the hands of the right player and the Exorcist remains once of the deadliest artillery pieces, for its points value, in the game.
The main troops units, though, continue to be available only in metal, making them an unpopular choice. A new plastic set is hotly anticipated for 2011 or early 2012.
