what Warhammer 40k army should i start?
Ive decided to try 40k. Which army should i choose. I would like an army more on the dark side. I don’t want an army of possessed people but of an elite group that have a story to themselves. Personally i prefer the warrior who fights for what he believes in. Example: Sepiroth from final fantasy VII if you’ve ever heard of him. But don’t get me wrong as much as i love katanas i also love guns. I wanted to start Dark Eldar but i heard that they’re bad for begginers. Also are codexes necessary. Are they a waste of money?
Are there any armies that don’t fight for good or evil but rather fight for whatever would benefit them the most according to their situation. In other works a neutral army that manipulates to the situation. And smart soldiers not just random mindless beasts. Also aren’t space marines kinda overrated.
Codex’s are never a waste of money, they are the most important part of any Warhammer 40k army. A Codex explains everything you need to know about your particular army, including fluff and lore, as well as points values and armories. As far as choosing an army take this into account first! Choose an army you like! Liking an army and having fun is what the game is about not what other may tell you are “the best.” (Flip through a couple codex’s at your local hobby store and get a feel for the different races) As far as choosing an army that is small and fights for what they believe in I would not recommended Eldar. With weak armor and coming in at a dime a dozen they aren’t exactly elite. And they fight pretty much just to inflict pain so not exactly the most belief driven. I am thinking you need to start with space marines. They have high armor and you can focus on terminators if you are really going for elites. They are tough and will fight to the death for the God Emperor! But like I said pick an army you like as far as lore goes and how the models look. Building and painting is as much a part of the game as playing. Good Luck.
