how can i transport water for my marine tank?
I need to transport around 550ltrs from a marine tank and also 2 x 200ltrs from the filteration tanks before i move the tank measuring 6ftx2ftx1.5ft. can anyone advise whats best and won’t cost the earth.
Wow, I don’ envy that task. Been there with a 450 ltr tank. By transport, do you mean move to a new house, or a new spot in the same house?
First realize that you do not need all of the water. Treat it like a big water change, you can afford to just dump around 20% of the water.
New House: You can get a few (2-3-4) large plastic containers from the hardware store and place them in the transport vehicle. Use a bucket to carry water from the tank to the containers. And reverse once the tank is moved. This may require an additional vehicle, to move the tank. Just try to avoid the temperature of the water dropping too much. Wrap with blankets or some other kind of insulation.
Similar thing if you’re moving it to a new spot in the same house. Just siphon the water to the containers on the floor, and bucket it back in.
