Warhammer 40k starter set tau?
I was wondering if anyone ever things they’ll ever make a starter set (like assault on black reach) for the tau?
As the previous answerer has stated, it is difficult to tell whether future starter sets will include the Tau. It is an almost certainty that they’ll contain Space Marines, these being the flagship army for 40k.
Personally, I find it highly unlikely that the Tau will be included. My reasoning behind this is the kind of units the Tau generally field. It’s easy to add Orks to a starter set, because most successful Ork armies rely on hordes of Ork Boyz, so they just need to throw in a few units of these to get folks started. Kinda the same with Marines – tac squads are a no-brainer. As for the Tau… well, to have an effective fighting force, a Tau player needs some mech in my opinion. Hammerheads, devilfish, etc. Or battlesuits. I don’t think these are the kind of models that they want to include in a starter set like Assault on Blackreach. Just adding Firewarriors and a Broadside or two wouldn’t make an effective counter-force to the included Space Marines in the box.
Looking at your question again, are you mainly looking for the starter set as a way of helping to add to your Tau army? If so, Games Workshop do sell a “Tau Empire Battleforce” for just under £50. This is a good way to start a Tau army, and it contains a decent range of Tau models. I’ve added a link to this on the GW site in the sources section.
