Do WAR 40k 5e tanks kill the squad they are carrying?

When I blow up a rhino carrying say, a squad of tactical marines. Do the marines make their saves or no? Power armor or not, the tank is exploding with them inside, the book was somewhat vague on the matter.

If the tank is just wrecked, the squad inside takes no damage, but does need to take a Pinning test.
If the tank explodes, the squad takes 1 Strength 4 AP – hit per model in the squad.

Since its an AP – hit, models get their amour saves as normal. From a thematic standpoint, keep in mind that the tanks are built to keep the troops inside safe, and that the shrapnel and concussion probably aren’t as bad as some of the weapons being shot at units in the 40K universe!
