Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard Victory Points Rules?
Hey I have a question about the Imperial Guard. My brother got the Codex and it says under standard troops the squad costs 50 points. So how much does each individual Guardsmen cost when adding up victory points. Do I just do 50 divided by 10? (Which equals 5 for those who cant do math lol) Or do I have to kill the ENTIRE squad just to get a measly 50 points. I hope that’s not the case because lets say every one died except for privet. Joe. That would mean I would get NOTHING just because ONE guy got away. Please help clarify this…
Victory points no longer apply in the 5th Edition rules, in which they are replaced with Kill Points. One unit equals one kill point. Imperial Guard can avoid the vast number of KPs they offer by combining platoons of up to five squads into a single squad.
VPs are, however, used in the tournament circuit as a balancing mechanism or as a decider in close or drawn battles. The current Ard Boyz circuit is a good example of this in action. In this case, VPs equal points. To get the full value of VPs, yes, you must kill the entire squad (not, TBH, all that tricky with Guardsmen). But depending on the chosen tournament system, you can also get half-VPs for reducing the squad to half-strength or if the squad is falling back at the end of the game.
