Excel Question: Creating a Portfolio in excel?
I’m trying to create a spreadsheet that allocates new money into an already existing portfolio. The sheet will look something like this
Regular 1 – 60K
Regalar 2 – 50K
Joint A/C – 40K
If I want to add in 60K – I want to put conditions, I want to allocate the 60K so that the final totals in all the accounts are as equal as possible – so the existing portfolio is $150K, I’m adding 60K, so I would need to add that all together, divide by three, and then the formula would need to know what amounts to add to each account, starting with the smallest (which will need the most money added into it).
Similarly, I would need to do this if I needed to take money out.
Can anyone help me on this one? I appreciate it!!!!!
Here is one way to do it. You can modify it any way that works for you.
I put 40, 50, 60 in a1, b1, c1
I put this formula in e1
=SUM(A1:C1)/3
I put this formula in f1
=(E1*3+B4)/3
I put this formula in a2 and copied to b2, c2
=A1+($F$1-A1)
I used b4 to put the deposit money.
It works fine for adding money in but not what you want for removing money. I’ll see if I can fix that.
