Success with Footslogging Dark Eldar – Warhammer 40k?
I’m primarily a Dark Eldar player, but I use the Air Force method: everyone in a raider, nothing starts on the table that can’t move 24″. Is it possible to have a successful army that doesn’t use raiders? What about raiders and ravagers?
I don’t want to hear about fluke battles, or battles against crap opponents. I want to know if it’s possible to have a take-all-comers list without transports.

Generally speaking, I would say “no”.
With expensive foot-troops with low armour and mid-level weapons, an all-foot DE army would tend to suffer, with squads being pushed back from shooting casualties and failed morale checks before they can reach objectives, or else being tied up in combat by specialist enemy units. Wyches will terribly vulnerable to blast and template weapons without the protection of speed and even the heavily-armoured Incubi will struggle as they lack the Fleet ability of their Warrior associates.
To survive as footsloggers, you need cannon fodder. Orks have grots. Guard have conscripts. Tau can just about get away without, thanks to the devastating effects of massed pulse rifle fire and infiltrating Kroot, but even they struggle overall without armoured support.
