Warhammer 40000 (40K) the nature of warp denizens?
Ok, I want to ask fellow 40k affectionados about the nature of the beings of the warp.
Are all beings that inhabit the empyrean Daemons?
Or are their strange, extra-dimensional xenos breeds that exist there are psychic presences?
Is the difference between the two being that Daemons have self-conciousness, and the others don’t?
Are Daemons created from the merging of human and some alien base emotions, whereas others are purely a race that live in the warp?
To clarify, I only want definitions from the current game, no Slann rubish existing in 40k. Reading the Horus Heresy series? What would you class Sirens (warp sharks by another name) as? What about the giant amorphous blob where you can see the galaxies it has eaten, the one with all the eyes that Loken fights?

The way I understood it is that the Warp exists as a realm of pure energy, both in terms of the energy we would call energy and as psychic energy. The ebings that inhabit it then are more sort of spectral, energy beings. Souls, if you will. The Chaos gods live there too, and the create other creates from the energy, and these are pretty much the only things there. These Daemons only gain physical form when they enter the physical world. IN the warp they only have a psychic form.
So no, I’d think there’s nothing else there, outside of lost souls and psychic presences (like the Emperor or Imperial Pilots in transit).
The only exception would be Eldar webway tunnels, but I’d class these as physical forms passing through the warp, in the same way as ships do when they travel.
