can old versions of warhammer models (like 1993 etc.) be used in battles at gameworkshop?
specifically the orc/goblins rock lobber? also, do all the crew need to be there in order for it to be used? like if you are supposed to have 3 cannon crew members, can you operate the cannon with just two or one, like if one crew member is missing?
thanks
You certainly can use older models. My venerable Empire army includes miniatures unseen since the mid-80s!
However, they must conform to the principles of WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). So if the model needs three crew, say, and you only have two, you have to acquire a third or represent the third crew member somehow. Similarly, if you have a model that no longer has rules in the current army book (such as a Doomwheel [although rumours abound of the new Skaven army book!]), you have to use it to represent something else (such as a Screaming Bell, for example).
WYSIWYG is quite flexible. Models must be clear and internally consistent. So if you wanted to, say, count an axe as a double-handed weapon on a character model, that would be fine as long as every axe in the entire army was also counted as a double-handed weapon. But in an army with a lot of crossbows, pointing out three and stating that they, in fact, count as handguns is not on.
Incidentally, should you need a third member of your rock lobber crew, I happen to have a classic rock lobber crew member (the little orc with a boulder on his shoulder) in my studio at the moment.

It also is not too surprising that one of the companies that published a Hero Quest clone was TSR. Dragon Strike has almost identical game play as Hero Quest: One player acts as the “Dragon … |
