What is a Good Warhammer 40k army for me?
Im looking for an army that focuses on ranged attacks with a good ballistic skill. Id prefer small squads for units as to giant spam platoons. I’m also a big fan of Snipers and fast attack vehicles. Thanks for your help
If you like snipers and fast attack vehicles, with a decent BS, I’d probably go for Space Marines, Tau or Eldar. Space Marines are jacks-of-all-trades, but have plenty of shooty stuff and good BS. The Tau are all about shooting, and have some great upgrades to their vehicles, but are seriously weak in close combat. The Eldar are a very specialized army – their units generally focus on doing one thing very well, so you will certainly be able to build a fast-moving, shooty army with these pointy-eared fellas.
Snipers: Space Marine scouts can be equipped with sniper rifles, and I’ve been on the receiving end of their punishment many times! The Tau, on the other hand, have Sniper Drones, and their Pathfinder units can be equipped with Rail Rifles. The Eldar also have some good snipers – their Rangers can be lethal.
Fast Attack: Space Marines have the ever popular and bikers. The Tau have Pirahna Light Skimmers. The Eldar have plenty of fast attack vehicles across their whole army – as a Chaos Daemon player, I often have a great deal of trouble getting to grips with a mechanised Eldar force.
I would recommend popping along to your local Games Workshop store, they’ll be able to offer better advice than me! I’m sure you’ll also be able to try out these different units – my local stores are always very happy to play a game or two with fellow hobbyists. I’m certain they’ll be delighted to demonstrate what the units I’ve mentioned above can do, and help you to pick the army that’s just right for you!
