Why are some abominations unto the LORD worse than others?
I say we picket Red Lobster. They are flagrantly disobeying the LORD’s wishes. So says Leviticus, right after that bit about gay folks. So it is SIN and if you eat there you will BURN IN HELL! RED LOBSTER IS THE ANTI-CHRIST!!!
The dietary laws for the Jews were NOT reinstated in the New Testament for Gentiles and all Christians. This is clearly explained in the book of Acts and also addressed elsewhere in the New Testament.
However, the sins involving sexual immorality are listed again in the New Testament. (Romans 1 for one place). At one point, Paul explains why sexual sins ARE worse than other sins in the context of adultery, but it applies to homosexuality as well in my opinion.
Furthermore, God didn’t destroy Sodom and Gamorrah for opening a Red Lobster restaurant. It is quite clear from Scripture that these cities were judged for their evil practices regarding sexual sin. (It’s where we get the word sodomy, you know.)
Sin is sin. We as Christians shouldn’t judge one in particular (especially if it is one we personally haven’t been tempted toward) as being worse than another (especially if that is one we are guilty of). All sin except rejecting Christ (blasphemy of the Holy Spirit) can be forgiven and overcome through the grace of God through Jesus Christ.
I would point you to one other Scripture passage. I used to think it (forbidding to marry) meant false teachers saying to stay celibate, but now I’m wondering if this couldn’t also be interpreted to include those with alternate definitions of marriage that are in conflict with the Biblical view of “one man and one woman”? Regardless of that part of the text, the part about food is VERY clear to me.
I Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
