Can I afford to buy a house? How do I even go about it?
I am tired of renting because I want more freedom. I am not looking for a house to be an investment or anything, I just want the space, the backyard, the freedom to decorate,r emodel, etc. I crave it. Now the question, how do I even go about it? It just seems so complicated. Who do I see? Contract the people/agencies on the for sale signs? Go to the bank? Go to the mortage company? what?
Another thing is that I only make 40k a year gross with no overtime, I usually get overtime and last 2 year tax returns Ive made 50k, but base is 40k so I am sure they will base it off that. Houses are about 120k to 150k, and Id expect to have about 30k for a down payment. I do have excellent credit, but based off this income, is it ok? What would my mortgage payment be? Taxes are only about 1200-1400 a year so I am not too concerned with that part. Right now I rent for 700 a month, and still have a lot extra a month.
You can go up to 120k for a house, plus your down payment.
