How can I start a Warhammer 40K army cheaply?
I want to play as the orks. Is there a bare bones starter army or something?
the cheapest way to get orks is to go halvsies on a Black Reach Box set (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat550004a&prodId=prod1570027) with a guy who want space marines.
In the box, you not only get 20 boys, 5 nobs, a boss, and three deffkoptas, you also get all the essential gear and a nifty pocket rulebook. All this for 45 bucks if you halvsies it. You still have to buy the ork codex, though
That being said, youre gonna end up spending alot more. The cheapest army to play is the Grey Knights, as they usually only have 20-30 models in the army. Right now, the grey knights are super non-competitive, but theyre gonna get a new codex in April, and will probably be the flavor of the month soon after
