Tau or Imperial Guards?~Warhammer 40k Tabletop.?
I’m interested in collecting a Tau Empire army, but i already have atleast 975 pts of Imperial Guards that i got for free from a friend. The thing is Imperial Guards are not my cup of tea and i honestly don’t like their tactics.
So heres the question, Should i continue my Imperial Guardsmen army or start a new Tau Army since i already have a box of Fire Warriors unopened ready if i decide to start a Tau Army, so please gimme ur opinions and thanks in advance!
I would totally agree with the previous answerer – if you don’t like the Imperial Guard, don’t play them! This game is all about having fun, and playing an army that suits your style is very important.
I wouldn’t necessary get rid of your Imperial Guard units just yet though. If you’re playing friendly games with mates, then you can always “proxy” them as Tau, while you continue to build up your new army. You won’t be able to do this in a tournament though!
Saying that though, it is actually possible to legally use your Guard troops in a Tau army! One of the Tau troop choices are “Gue’vesa”, who are essentially human auxiliaries that fight for the Tau – these can be Imperial Guard soldiers, or their descendants, who have defected to the Tau. So, no need to get rid of all of your models! You won’t be able to use IG tanks though, just the troops.
