Could anybody help me with the title or author of this book? It appears as part of a fantasy series.?

I have been thinking about this book for abou a year, I used to read it as a kid, but we moved houses and lost the book! Duh!
Could anyone help me?
I remember it was a fantasy fiction book, that appeared to be part of a series. I distincltly remember(this was a section in the book) an elf city where the main character (I think the name was Megan)travels to with another human from this world (Conrad or Colin I think) and there she slept for days- all her travelling companions did.
Anyway, it featured seers, a scrying pool, mages, a bit where the man protaganist (colin/conrad) is captured by a troll army and he escapes. Megan imprisoned, all of them travelling on a boat manned (!) by sea- orcs.
Sorry this is all so slapdash, but I can only vaguely remember flashes of details. ( I think the femal protaganist and the male were lovers once)
Just remembered some more of the story- Colin/Conrad musn’t fall into a powerful dark kings’ hands because he has a brilliant mind
