warhammer vampire counts?
i havent started painting playing or anything like that i heard vampire counts are good are they? when you buy i box of whatever you want does it have like what color they should be painted like a guideline????
Are Vampire Counts “good”? Good in what way? No army is inherently better or worse performing on the tabletop than any other. Vampire Counts have feeble basic units (zombies and skeletons) and monstrous Lords (Vampires and Vampire Lords). They can certainly hold their own against anyone you’d care to mention if selected with care and played well (but then, that’s true of every army).
The only important question you need to answer is whether Vampire Counts is the army that most inspires you to collect, build and paint plastic soldiers. If it is, then it’s the best army for you. If not, then you should choose something that really does hit your “ZOMG!” switch.
As for painting, yes, you’ll find a basic painting guide on the back of every boxed set (although not the blisters of individual models). You’ll also find more detailed painting guides in the Army Book that you need to buy if you’re planning an army. More guides can be found on the Games Workshop website and if you trawl websites like http://www.warseer.com and http://www.dakkadakka.com, you’ll find lots of advice and inspiration to help you along your way.
But, ultimately, they’re your miniatures. There’s no “correct” way to paint any given model. If you want your Vampires in pink robes with yellow flowers and bright blue faces, then that’s entirely up to you (and would probably be a lot of fun!). Don’t be bound by the painting guides: they’re just a starting point.
