About King Tut’s life in Egypt?
I need to know a little bit about King Tut, not about his tomb or what was in his tomb, but how he was pharaoh of Egypt. I know when he was crowned and when he died, but did he ever have a wife? If so, did he have a wife when he died?
Yes he had a wife.Her name was Ankhesenamen.She was his half-sister, a daughter of Nefertiti and his father Akenaten.
Akenaten was the famous heretic king,who favored monotheism,one god over polytheism,many gods.He worshiped the sun disk,the Aten.
Tutankhamen was born Tutankhatern,by the way.Ankhesenamen was called Ankhespaaten.When Akenaten changed Egypt to a monotheistic religion,he angered the priests of the other gods,especially the priests of Amun.Tut returned Egypt to a polytheism,reinstating all of the priests.Tut also had to deal with other countries around him;there were many battles during his reign.
Tut and his wife had no children;it is believed that they had two children who died at birth or soon after,but the fetuses haven’t been tested for DNA as yet.
