Average Web Designing Pay?
I’ve always been interested in IT, and have taken a few classes in IT. I really enjoyed my HTML classes and web design stuff. I’ve been looking at salary’s and they seem to run between 35-80k a year, which is a pretty big gap. I’ve also noticed that there are several free lance websites where people can make up to 10s of thousands of dollars for creating a single site. My question is, if that kind of free lance work is available, why do so many designers settle for the 40k salary?
Are the free lance sites mostly bull or something?
And how much money can I really expect to make if I were to get my degree in web designing, could I do better with free lance, or just stick to a salary kind of job?
A lot of questions I know, but any answers help.

$40k might not sound a lot but a job offers security to some people where freelance work is less stable. You might get $10,000 for a site but what if you only got two jobs in one year?
The choice is a personality issue. Do you need security or are you a go getter and do you have confidence you can drum up enough business each year to bring in the kind of income you want? That’s the real question. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
People are charging all sorts of fees for web designing, it really is a matter of what the client is wanting. A simple website might go for $250 where a complex ecommerce site might cost $50,000 a year or more but will require more than one person working on it.
It’s up to you as to what model suits you better. You can always offer your services for a nominal fee now while you are waiting to graduate to practice charging for your services and see how you go.
