Warhammer 40K Scenery?
I have a couple questions about the WH40K scenery. GW says that the kits have enough to build one building but only show a “corner” or so on the website. Is there enough to build an entire building?
oh, and one more thing. I recently got a thunderhawk gunship from forgeworld and it is puny. i think it is really meant for the epic game or something cause its only like three inches long. where can i find a more “lifesize” model. i would love to have a docking station on my fortress that opens up and the gunship “flys” out of!!!
thatnks for any help!
And my other q is this. Im hopeing to be able to make a huge fortress-monastary for my army and im wondering if anyone has ever tried to mix and match pieces of the scenery together? Im sure that if i really worked at it i could do it myself but im wondering how much work it will take. has anyone done this before?
The building you see is the building you get. It’s a ruined building partly because, well, that’s how buildings tend to get on 40k battlefields, but also because using ruined buildings gives fuller access to internal levels, giving the players use of the third dimension in games. It is possible to build entire, undamaged buildings with the Cities of Death kits, but you have to buy more than one kit. The exact number of kits you have to buy will depend on how big a building you want!
You have obviously made a common error with your Thunderhawk and bought the EPIC: Armageddon/Aeronautica Imperialis. A friend of mine recently got the Forge World staff excited when he ordered twenty Thunderhawks over the phone, only to reveal that he meant the (5mm long) Battlefleet Gothic version! You can find the proper, 28mm-scale Warhammer 40,000 Thunderhawk here:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/SPACE_MARINE_AIRCRAFT.html
Note that there are two types: the regular thunderhawk and the transporter, with prices starting at £367.00.
If you want to build yourself a fortress monastery – or at least part of one, as an entire fortress-monastery wouldn’t fit on the largest gaming table – then you might want to check out Forge World’s terrain selection:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/QUATERMASTERS_STORE_WARHAMMER_40K_TERRAIN_7.html
which includes the amazing Fortress Walls:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/fortp.htm
But if the prices all look a bit steep, go and have a look at http://warseer.com. The Painting and Modelling Project Logs section of the forums includes loads of scratch-building projects, including massive terrain pieces, thunderhawks and even warlord titans.
