Guys, would you do this…?
The beginning of my contemporary fantasy novel begins as thus: Male protagonist wakes female protagonist shortly before dawn on her birthday. She assumes it’s a booty call, which isn’t out of the ordinary, but he actually drives her out of town up on a hill and proposes marriage just after sunrise.
She ends up having to say no because she’s secretly a sorceress and a whole lot of drama ensues. But my question is, does this sound like a throughly implausible and cheesy proposal? I’m getting mixed feedback from some of the people that read for me. Any suggestions for a cute marriage proposal that’s a bit more palatable?
