warhammer 40 k points?
i have an assault squad of dark angels and i was wonderig cuz i kind of goofed them up. like i had one marine acing like john woo and dual wielding plasma pistols and one other marine wielding two chain swords. would that affect my points in a game…
note that this is just regular ultramarine assault squad. not
You’ll find that this is a common problem in older armies designed under the 3rd Edition rules. But it isn’t a big deal, even in 5th Edition.
Because there are no rules to allow for a space marine to fire two plasma pistols, even in WYSIWYG rules he just counts as a space marine with a plasma pistol and close combat weapon (the second pistol counting as the CC weapon). Your chainsword-samurai is in a similar situation. He’s got two CC weapons. The only thing he’s missing is his bolt pistol, which you can add in a holster on his belt.
With that simple addition, both models are WYSIWYG compliant. You may like to point out the dual-plasma-pistol-wielding marine to opponents at the start of a game, just to clarify that he’s just a regular assault marine with a plasma pistol and CC weapon, but even if you don’t there’s not much to complain about there.
I’ve got two similar models in my own assault squad – one with a plasma pistol and bolt pistol and one with two bolt pistols. It’s never caused any confusion.
