just strting warhammer 40k?
i am going to start playing warhammer 40k in a bit, and i did m research and looking around and have descided to play orks. extremeleffective close range and quite random long ranged.
what are some of the best strategies for orks?
so i need to know what to buy
i am setting out a plan for myself and i need help building my army
so just list what i need for each of these point values (like the people i need for each of these to be able to rape other armies of the same size):

Having played Orks for a while, I can tell you that the variation in the army list is sufficient enough that you can play the list several different ways. Using your plan to start with the Assault on Black Reach kit and another box or two of Ork Boyz, you can quickly get to 500 points. After that, it’s more about where you want your army to develop.
I personally tend to go with a more “foot slogger” list, since I prefer large mobz to small ones. As an example, in a 1500 point list I took against a Tyranid swarm not too long ago, I used a Warboss, a Big Mek, two mobz of 20 boyz, 8 Nobz, a Deff Dread, three Killa Kanz, three Warbikers, and a unit of Stormboyz with Zagstrukk. The nice thing about the list was that except for the Warboss, the Big Mek, and Zagstrukk, every model was plastic. It really helps that most available units are plastic nowadays, as it keeps costs down.
In a balanced Warhammer army, you need to plan for a bunch of different scenarios – you want to make sure you have enough Troop choices to be able to hold or contest objectives, and you need to make sure that you have enough protection for those units. You have to anticipate that the enemy will have a balance of Troops, Fast Attack, and Heavy Support units, and you’ll need to come up with ways to counter threats to your army. One thing I like to do is make sure I have a couple of fast moving units (Stormboyz, Warbikers, Deffkoptas) to harrass the enemy flanks, and to tie up large units until my boyz can get stuck in and really do some damage. In addition, you have to plan for the fact that most armies will have tanks or armor of some sort (even if it’s large gribbly creatures) that most Ork shooting just isn’t reliable enough to take down. I’ve gotten lucky with rokkits before, but the absolute best way to take down an enemy vehicle is with a Nob armed with a Power Klaw. Just make sure you don’t sacrifice all of your boyz needlessly in order to get the Nob into close combat with that one tank, all the while ignoring the rest of his army.
Battle Wagons are helpful and very customizeable, Stompas are a necessity at the Apocalypse level, and in my opinion, Killa Kanz are worth their weight in gold at any points level. The absolute best way to build any army, however, is just to read through the codex, see what appeals to you, pick the models that you like, and have fun with it – You’ll learn for yourself whether you want to run with two mobz of 30 boyz, or perhaps three mobz of 20. You’ll figure out if you like the template madness that follows when 15 burna boyz fire their template weapons from the top of an open-topped battlewagon. You’ll cackle with glee as Snikrot and his kommandos infiltrate the enemy line and blow up that pesky basilisk that’s been shelling your battle line. You’ll joyously send your 30 strong grot mob forward into the Chaos Marines because it’ll tie them up just long enough to outflank them with your Nobz.
Oh, and the most important part – make sure you let out a hearty WAAAAGH when you start each battle!
